International Conference

The Unit of Environmental Science and Technology (UEST) is an educational and research unit at the School of Chemical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens. The unit works in collaboration with other Universities, research institutes, public and local authorities and with the private sector with the aim of enhancing education, research, technology and innovation.

UEST works in close cooperation with competent Ministries and other Governmental agencies, as well as various European and International Organizations, providing environmental management inputs for the development and implementation of national strategies and action plans. UEST has been the National Reference Center of Greece representing the country at the European Topic Center on Waste and Material Flows (ETC/WMF) of the European Environment Agency (EEA).

The Hellenic Water Association (HWA) is a non-profit association. It is the Greek Governing member of IWA (International Water Association). The Hellenic Water Association was founded in June 2012. Its principles are its non-political character and non-profit and voluntary operation. Furthermore, HWA aims to act as a think tank, support top-class research and provide high-quality service to society. The main purpose of HWA is to play a primary role to water and wastewater management from a scientific point of view.

The ideal core of the HWA lies in the application of the best available practices and contemporary methods for water and wastewater management by a skilled integration of several scientific, technical and management disciplines.

This Conference has been financed by the European Union (European Social Fund – ESF) and Greek national funds through the Operational Program “Education and Lifelong Learning” of the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) – Research Funding Program: ARISTEIA Ι: Development of an innovative, compact system that combines biological treatment technologies for the sustainable and environmental management of organic waste streams that are produced from different types of food processing industries - FOODINBIO/2915.
